MOFGA Certification Services COVID-19 Response

MOFGA Certification Services is committed to protecting human health, including the health of our clients, representatives and staff. If you or your operation is impacted by COVID-19 and need additional support, such as due date extensions, please notify us via phone at 207.568.6030 or at certification@mofga.org or your specialist directly. For the health and safety of our staff and the community, the MOFGA and MCS offices are closed to the public until further notice. Staff are working from home and will respond to your mail, voicemail and email as soon as they can.

Inspections normally occurring this time of year are currently delayed and we are making contingency plans.

We will alert operations about delays for onsite inspections on a case by case basis. If you currently have an inspection scheduled, you will be hearing from your inspector or our office about rescheduling. Further guidance from the National Organic Program may be forthcoming and MCS will communicate any updates relevant to our producers as they are available. Refer to the CDC’s resources about COVID-19 for the most up-to-date announcements and information about the virus. Please let us know if you have any questions by connecting directly with your specialist or at 568-6030 or at certification@mofga.org.

New resource from DACF. The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (DACF) has launched a new website that provides COVID-19 information and resources to agriculture and food businesses. The site launched on March 19th and is designed specifically to help keep Maine agricultural producers, businesses and service providers as up-to-date as possible on health and safety issues with the ongoing COVID-19 situation. DACF plans to keep it current with the most recent information and guidance from the Maine Center for Disease Control & Prevention and federal and state partners.
