Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association (MOFGA) has been certifying organic farmers since 1972 and is one of the country’s oldest certification programs. MOFGA Certification Services LLC was formed by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association in 2002 in order to provide USDA-accredited organic certification services to Maine farmers and food processors.
Our service area currently consists of Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. If your operation is located outside of these New England states, please refer to the USDA NOP website or the Organic Integrity database to locate a certifier that services your area. If you are in Connecticut or Rhode Island, please contact our office.
MOFGA Certification Services (MCS) certifies crops, wild crops, sea vegetables, livestock, livestock products, and processed products to the USDA National Organic Program standard.
MCS is approved to issue export documents for shipments of certified organic products to Canada, European Union member countries, Switzerland, Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, as well as to other countries. Depending on the destination country, certain requirements may apply.
More details can be found in the current MCS Practice Manual or you may contact the MCS office with any questions regarding the import or export of certified organic products.
